Scientific objectives

The name of the team illustrates our desire to explore the links between linguistic systems and language usage, either by relying on descriptions of corpus data to understand linguistic systems more fully, or by challenging certain theoretical models with different cases of known language use. Indeed, what strongly unites all the members of the team is a shared interest for studying corpora, with differences regarding the linguistic data considered (oral, written, situations or textual genres), or their method of elaboration (transcription methods, annotation levels, more or less "controlled" data). Within the team, some studies prioritise the description and analysis of various linguistic data collected in the field, demonstrating our desire to expand our knowledge of linguistic and sociolinguistic uses of language. The research fields represented in the group are varied, as they touch on all fields of linguistics: syntax, pragmatics, semantics, phonology, prosody, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and lexicology. The members of the team share their interests in the interfaces between these different domains, such as for example the study of the links between syntax, prosody and discourse, between morphology and phonology, between syntax and semantics, and between semantics and pragmatics.

News
